Obituary
Linda Van Osten, 82, of Meservey, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at her home after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at First Reformed Church, 620 2nd Street in Meservey. Burial will be in Meservey Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond.
Linda Kay was born on January 9, 1944 in Davenport to Thomas and Laurine (Hollatz) Proctor. Linda spent her childhood in rural Swaledale before moving to Meservey. Linda graduated from Meservey High School in 1962.
On September 21, 1963, Linda was united in marriage to Ardell Van Osten at the Richmond Lutheran Church in rural Thornton. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2023.
Over the years, Linda worked different jobs but was most proud of her 38 year tenure as rural route mail carrier, serving Alexander and Meservey.
Linda enjoyed sewing her famous Barbie dresses and gardening. She loved nothing more than the family’s annual trip to Las Vegas. She was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church in Meservey.
Linda is survived by her daughters Robin Van Osten of Urbandale and Sandy Van Osten of Des Moines; brothers Marvin (Jane) Proctor and Duane (Jewel) Proctor; sisters-in-law Shirley Proctor, Judy (Mike) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ardell in 2023; brother Marty Proctor; parents Thomas and Laurine Proctor; and parents-in-law John and Dena Van Osten.
